Braille System

There is a recent EU Directive (2004/27/EC, Article 56a) requiring pharmaceutical products to have the product name, strength and form printed in Braille to assist the blind and visually impaired.

For small production quantities, the printing or embossing of Braille labels is a real problem. Until now, this has been addressed by out-sourcing pre-printed labels – with high unit cost and long lead-times.

In collaboration with Ditac Limited, we can offer a system allowing you to produce Braille labels, with or without visible text, in-house. Producing the labels in reel form, for automatic application by a suitable label applicator.

The “Braille-Tac” is available either as reel-to-reel embossing system, or a full system with the ability to produce labels with a visual-readable text as well as the required Braille text.

The “Braille-Tac” is aimed specifically at the PI (Parallel Imports) and Clinical Trials sectors of the pharmaceutical industries.

Much work has also been undertaken to find the correct label materials to take the Braille embossing and also a Thermal Transfer overprint.

Various options are available giving production speeds, depending upon label length, number of lines of Braille and number of labels across the web. (Throughput up to 10,000 labels per hour is possible).

For suitable Braille label material supply please see www.ditac.co.uk.

If you have a special labelling or product handling project and can't find a solution 'off-the-shelf', why not have your own solution 'designed' for you?
